The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) seeks feedback from US trademark owners, practitioners and other interested parties on a proposal to allow amendments to identifications of goods and services due to technology evolution.
On September 5, 2014, the USPTO announced a proposal seeking feedback on allowing amendments in certain circumstances to identifications of goods and services due to technology evolution. According to the USPTO, these amendments embody the goal of preserving trademark registrations and applications in situations where industry technology has evolved in a way that amending the goods or services at issue would not create a public-notice problem. The proposal was also based on user input, including a recent roundtable meeting. The proposal can be found on the USPTO's website.
