Domicile

A person's fixed, permanent home where one intends to remain or to return when absent. In contrast to residence, a person can have only one domicile at a time. The application of domicile to business entities is unclear. Some courts hold that domicile does not apply to corporations or partnerships. Other courts hold that the domicile of a corporation is its state of incorporation and that a partnership is domiciled in its state of creation.
