A practice note setting out the key UK legislation governing consumer contracts, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (SI 2008/1277) and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/3134). The note also lists the EU legislation which UK legislation has implemented and subsequent EU legislation in the same area, such as the Goods Directive ((EU) 2019/771) and the Digital Content and Digital Services Directive ((EU) 2019/770). This note does not deal with industry-specific rules, such as those governing financial services, consumer credit, estate agency or telecommunications.
