This Law Firm Publication by Davis Wright Tremaine LLP states that the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) has published its final regulations for Oregon's mandatory sick leave law. As of January 1, 2016, businesses with at least one employee in Oregon must comply with this law. Although titled "sick" leave, the law also protects absences for other purposes, including preventative care, bereavement, and domestic violence victims. The statewide law preempts and replaces the City of Portland's ordinance.
