On 24 January 2007, the European Commission announced that it has imposed fines totalling over EUR750 million on eleven groups of companies for infringing Article 81(1) of the EC Treaty by participating in an illegal collusive tendering cartel in the market for gas insulated switchgear projects between 1988 and 2004.
