Arbitration is a winner | Practical Law

Last Thursday evening, PLC Dispute Resolution hosted an informal debate to mark and celebrate both the 10th anniversary of the Arbitration Act 1996 and the recent launch of PLC Dispute Resolution. The debate was chaired by Geoffrey Timms, head of legal at Legal & General, and was entitled "Arbitration, litigation or ADR". After some very lively and entertaining contributions by Timothy Young QC (speaking in favour of arbitration), Joanna Page of Allen & Overy (speaking in favour of litigation) and Ian Gatt QC of Herbert Smith (speaking in favour of mediation), the audience was asked to vote for their preference. Arbitration was declared the winner, after a very close final count.
