By virtue of section 105 of the Employment Rights Act 1996, the Maternity and Parental Leave etc Regulations 1999 (SI 1999/3312) and certain other statutory provisions, selecting an employee for redundancy on several prescribed grounds will make their dismissal automatically unfair.
