Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS)
The federal agency formerly responsible for chartering, regulating, and supervising
thrifts
and their holding companies. Under the
Dodd-Frank Act
, the various regulatory and supervisory responsibilities of the OTS were transferred on July 21, 2011, to the
Federal Reserve Board
(FRB),
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
(FDIC), and
Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
