A Practice Note explaining the basics of securitization transactions, including structures and cash flows for asset-backed securities (ABS) transactions in which the assets that compose the securitized collateral pool are originated in the US. This Note also examines reasons for undertaking a securitization transaction and summarizes and explains the various types of ABS transactions.
