Final Judgment Rule

The general rule that appellate courts in many jurisdictions may hear appeals only from final decisions, not interlocutory orders. However, there are exceptions. Many appellate courts have jurisdiction over certain types of interlocutory appeals, such as appeals from orders granting or denying preliminary injunctions. In addition, appellate courts in some states have broad jurisdiction over appeals from interlocutory orders.
