An overview of the legislative history of the Capital Requirements Directive (2006/48/EC and 2006/49/EC) (CRD). The note considers the banking and capital adequacy directives that it repealed, its own legislative progress and reforms made to the CRD until its repeal on 1 January 2014.
The note summarises the main directives containing major amendments to the CRD, referred to individually as CRD II (2009/111/EC), CRD III (2010/76/EU) and other less significant amendments made to the CRD. It also considers the CRD IV package of reforms (which comprises the Capital Requirements Regulation (Regulation 575/2013) (CRR) and the CRD IV Directive (2013/36/EU).
