The drive towards harmonisation of EU contract law has moved up a gear with the July 2010 publication of a European Commission green paper on the topic. This article considers the options for harmonisation set out in the paper, briefly examines the US experience of contract law harmonisation and outlines the next steps in the development of European contract law.
