Ogletree Deakins: New Rhode Island Temporary Caregiver Insurance Benefits Become Effective January 1, 2014 | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication by Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. discusses Rhode Island's new Temporary Caregiver Insurance Program (TCI). Beginning January 1, 2014, all employees regardless of their employer's size will be eligible for up to four weeks of leave to care for an ill or injured child, spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law or grandparent, or to bond with a newborn or adopted child. TCI mimics Rhode Island's Temporary Disability Insurance Program, which provides wage-replacement benefits to employees who are unable to work due to non-workplace related injuries.
