On 19 September 2013, Advocate General Paolo Mengozzi handed down his opinions in appeals by Areva and Alstom SA, Siemens Transmission and Distribution and the European Commission against the General Court judgments in actions brought against a decision of the Commission that imposed fines on eleven groups of companies for infringing Article 101(1) of the TFEU by participating in an illegal collusive tendering cartel in the market for gas insulated switchgear projects.
