The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released a draft version of a Service Mark Specimens Examination Guide and is seeking comments through the IdeaScale website.
On June 3, 2014, the USPTO issued a news release announcing the release for comment of a draft Service Mark Specimens Examination Guide. The examination guide's purposes are to:
  • Provide public notice about acceptable specimens for various services.
  • Promote consistency in examination.
  • Provide examples illustrating the concepts discussed.
The draft guide is available here.
The USPTO will take timely comments into account before finalizing the guide. Comments may be submitted through the IdeaScale website until July 16, 2014.
