The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) has published new guidance notes for arbitrators and parties, and on emergency procedures.
On 29 June 2015, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) published new guidance notes for arbitrators and parties, and on the emergency procedures available in LCIA arbitrations. The notes have been produced with a view to facilitating the timely conduct of arbitrations under the LCIA Arbitration Rules.
The LCIA Notes for Arbitrators guide arbitrators on issues relating to independence, impartiality, availability and confidentiality, as well as providing advice on conducting the proceedings, the effective management of time and costs and the need to ensure that the LCIA Secretariat is kept informed as to the progress of the arbitration.
The LCIA Notes for Parties provide guidance to parties and their representatives on conducting arbitrations under the LCIA Rules. They include information on commencing an arbitration, filing a Response, appointing a tribunal (including applications for expedited formation and for the appointment of an emergency arbitrator), presenting evidence, confidentiality and the determination of costs.
The LCIA Notes on Emergency Procedures give parties and their representatives information on the emergency procedures available under the LCIA Rules, namely the provisions regarding expedited formation of the arbitral tribunal (or expedited appointment of a replacement arbitrator) and the emergency arbitrator procedure.
