In Mercovia S/A v Comissão Mista Argentino Brasileira (COMAB), Foreign Award n. 10.432 – EX, the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice (STJ) considered whether it could recognise an award issued by an ad hoc arbitral tribunal in which an international legal entity, established by the Brazilian and Argentine federal governments, had been a party to the arbitration proceedings, without the assistance of those governments.
