EU Market Abuse Regulation (EU MAR)

Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on market abuse which repealed and replaced the Market Abuse Directive and its implementing legislation with effect from 3 July 2016.
EU MAR establishes a common regulatory framework on market abuse, as well as measures to prevent market abuse to ensure the integrity of the EU financial markets and enhance investor protection and confidence in those markets (Article 1, EU MAR). For further information on EU MAR, see Practice note, EU Market Abuse Regulation (EU MAR): overview.
Since the end of the UK-EU transition period, the retained EU law version of EU MAR, known as UK MAR, has applied in the UK. For more information on UK MAR, see Practice note, UK Market Abuse Regulation (UK MAR).
