Relation-Back Statute
A type of statute which deems an act performed at a later time as to have occurred at an earlier time. For example, the Uniform Commercial Code deems a purchase-money security interest in property to be perfected as of the sale date as long as perfection occurs within 20 days of when the debtor received possession of the property (UCC §9-324(a)).
