Convention on jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters signed in Lugano on 30 October 2007 and published in the Official Journal on 21 December 2007 (L339/3). Its effects are materially the same as the 2001 Brussels Regulation and it governs issues of jurisdiction and enforcement of judgments between the European Union member states and the European Free Trade Association countries other than Liechtenstein (namely Iceland, Switzerland and Norway).

The Swiss Federal Council is the official depository for the 2007 Lugano Convention, including information on its ratification. The EC ratified the 2007 Lugano Convention on 18 May 2009 with effect for all EU member states except Denmark. The 2007 Lugano Convention was ratified by Norway on 1 July 2009 and by Denmark on 24 September 2009, and it entered into force as between the EU member states and Norway on 1 January 2010. Switzerland ratified the 2007 Lugano Convention on 20 October 2010, with effect from 1 January 2011. The 2007 Lugano Convention was ratified by the Republic of Iceland on 25 February 2011, and entered into force as between the EU and Iceland on 1 May 2011.

The 2007 Lugano Convention was incorporated into UK law by the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Regulations 2009 (SI 2009/3131). The 2007 Lugano Convention applied to the UK during the UK-EU transition period (which ended at 11.00pm (UK time) on 31 December 2020), but ceased to apply in the UK following the end of the transition period except in relation to proceedings instituted by that date.

At the end of the transition period, the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (SI 2019/479), as amended by the Jurisdiction, Judgments and Applicable Law (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations (SI 2020/1574), amended retained EU law relating to the 2007 Lugano Convention.
