An overview of the Single Payment Scheme (SPS) of direct payments to farmers under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The SPS operated between 2005 and 2014. It is no longer possible to claim payment under the SPS. The Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) replaced the SPS on 1 January 2015 (see Practice note, Basic Payment Scheme).
