This Practice Note discusses single plaintiff employment discrimination litigation in federal court under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 (Section 1981), and the Equal Pay Act (EPA). It addresses various stages of the case, including case assessments, pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial, and settlement. This Note specifically addresses federal law, but it also is useful to employers with cases pending in state courts.
