After receiving public comments, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released a final version of Examination Guide 3-12: Universal Symbols in Marks. The guide is available on the Manuals, Guides, Official Gazette page of the USPTO website.
On September 17, 2012, the USPTO announced the issuance of a new trademark examination guide on universal symbols, Exam Guide 3-12: Universal Symbols in Marks. Practitioners and other stakeholders previously submitted public comment on the draft version of this guide.
