The US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a Form I-9 Employee Information Sheet for employers to give to employees to provide guidance on the I-9 process and answers to common questions.
On March 6, 2014, the US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a new Form I-9 Employee Information Sheet.
The one page information sheet is intended to be a guide that employers can give to employees to provide them with general information about the I-9 process, guidance on completing Section 1 of the form and answers to common questions including:
  • The different responsibilities of the employer and the employee.
  • The information that the employee must provide versus the information that is optional.
  • The consequences of noncompliance.
The Information Sheet includes hyperlinks to websites with important information for employees, including among others:
  • The Form I-9 and the form's List of Acceptable Documents.
  • The Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices website.
  • E-Verify information on employee e-mails on Tentative Nonconfirmations.
The Form I-9 Employee Information Sheet is available in both English and Spanish on the USCIS I-9 Central website. Employers may make this sheet available to all employees in either hard copy or electronic format.
