On June 10, 2014, OSHA announced the release of a new interactive training tool to help small business owners and their workers effectively identify hazards in the workplace. The new training tool teaches hazard identification skills as well as hazard abatement and control.
Using an interactive game-like technology, the new tool allows employers and workers to:
Virtually explore how to identify common workplace hazards in the manufacturing and construction industries.
Learn to identify realistic, common hazards and address them with practical and effective solutions from the perspectives of both:
the business owner; and
the employee.
Understand the key components of the hazard identification process, including:
information collection;
observation of the workplace;
investigation of incidents;
employee participation; and
prioritizing hazards.
The new hazard identification training tool can be found on OSHA's website, along with a link to the tool's game trailer.
