The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking comments on the first draft of its Big Data Interoperability Framework, which addresses issues related to big data, including privacy and data security.
On April 6, 2015, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released the first draft of its Big Data Interoperability Framework for comment. NIST will release three versions of the Framework, which consists of seven volumes that address issues related to developing a standard framework for using big data, including:
  • Definitions and taxonomies.
  • Use Cases and Requirements.
  • Data Security and Privacy.
  • Reference Architecture.
  • Technology standards.
Volume 4 addresses privacy and security and includes discussion of:
  • Security and privacy issues particular to big data.
  • Security and privacy use cases.
  • A preliminary taxonomy for big data privacy and security.
  • A draft NIST big data security and privacy reference architecture.
