This note summarises, from an English law perspective, the key provisions of Regulation 593/2008 on the law applicable to contractual obligations (Rome I) and the retained EU law version of Rome I.

This note also provides an overview of the voluntary Principles on Choice of Law in International Contracts, which were adopted by the Hague Conference on Private International Law on 19 March 2015.
