In HMRC v Portsmouth City Football Club Limited (in administration) and others [2010] EWHC 2013 (Ch) (5 August 2010), the High Court considered HMRC's challenge to Portsmouth City FC's creditor-approved CVA; the challenge was ostensibly on the grounds of unfair prejudice and material irregularity but based on HMRC's opposition to what is known as the "football creditor rule".
