A Practice Note addressing restrictions under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on the reimbursement of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines or drugs by employer-sponsored health plans. This requirement was repealed under federal legislation enacted in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resource also addresses the use of debit cards to pay for OTC medicines or drugs.
