UNCITRAL has adopted the UNCITRAL Recommendations to assist arbitral institutions and other interested bodies in arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules 2010.
On 2 July 2012, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) adopted the UNCITRAL Recommendations to assist arbitral institutions and other interested bodies in arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules 2010 (2010 rules). The recommendations stick to the same model as the 1982 version, which provide guidance and assistance to institutions and bodies regarding arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules 1976.
UNCITRAL requested the secretariat to prepare a revised set of recommendations following the adoption of the 2010 rules, particularly in light of the extended role of the appointing authority under those rules. Following a consultation with numerous arbitral institutions, other bodies and governments, UNCITRAL finalised and adopted the new recommendations at a meeting which took place in New York between 25 June - 6 July 2012.
