Jackson Lewis: Maryland Enacts Leave Law for Family of Armed Services Members | Practical Law
This Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis LLP discusses Maryland's new law requiring covered employers to give employees one day of unpaid leave to be used on the day an immediate family member leaves for or returns from active military duty outside the US. A same-sex spouse is included in the definition of immediate family member. The new law, which will be codified in Section 3-803 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, becomes effective October 1, 2013.
