This Law Firm Publication by McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association discusses RSA 485-A:24-1, a New Hampshire statute effective January 1, 2014 that requires for-profit and non-profit entities offering "youth skills camps" to conduct background checks on all employees, coaches, and volunteers who may be left alone with children. Among other obligations, owners and operators of these camps must provide copies of their background check policies and certifications showing their compliance with the new law to the Department of Environmental Services and to owners of the properties where they operate these camps. The statute closes a loophole in the laws mandating that all those who work with children undergo background checks.
