This article considers the types of security available to lenders in Malta, namely, security by hypothec, mortgage, title transfer, personal security (guarantee and suretyship), the security trust and quasi-security provisions in the form of irrevocable mandates, set-off and netting. It concludes by acknowledging that Malta has moved from a debtor-friendly to an increasingly creditor-friendly jurisdiction.
