This new edition of the Compendium is electronic and intended to make the Copyright Office's practices more timely, transparent and up-to-date. The Compendium is a technical manual for Copyright Office staff. It is also a guidebook for the public regarding:
  • Fundamental principles of copyright law, such as:

    • joint authorship;
    • work for hire; and
    • termination of transfers.
