This Law Firm Publication by Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. addresses House Bill 3236 (HB 3236), signed into law by Oregon Governor Kate Brown on June 16, 2015. The law reduces the maximum enforceable duration for a noncompetition agreement to 18 months. HB 3236 does not apply to agreements not to solicit employees or business from the former employer. The law takes effect on January 1, 2016 and will apply to agreements entered on or after the effective date.
