Witness order

An order issued by an employment tribunal compelling a witness to attend a hearing. Failure to attend without reasonable excuse is a criminal offence. An application for a witness order should be made to the tribunal in writing.
In the civil courts such orders are known as witness summons (or subpoena ad testificum, prior to the Civil Procedure Rules).
