Administrative Council of Economic Defence (Conselho Adminislativo de Defesa Econônica) (CADE) | Practical Law

The CADE is responsible for the enforcement of Brazilian anti-trust law, with the assistance of the Secretariat of Economic Law and of the Secretariat for Economic Supervision. The CADE is in charge of the protection of market competition, and of the control, prevention and repression of breaches of the economic order. In relation to the telecommunications markets, the CADE has the definitive authority in each specific case to apply either the anti-trust law or the special competition rules of Law 9472/97 (General Telecommunications Law) and the ANATEL.
