On 28 August 2006, the European Commission announced that it has decided under Article 6(1)(b) of the EC Merger Regulation to approve the acquisition of sole control of GNT Holding Oy GmbH (GNT)by ALSO Schweiz AG (ALSO) (controlled by Schindler group) (COMP/M.4285). ALSO and GNT are both involved in the wholesale distribution of IT and consumer electronic products and services. ALSO is active in Switzerland and Germany, while GNT group operates in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Poland. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger procedure.
