Glossary
DMCA Notification
Also known as a DMCA complaint or DMCA takedown notice. A written notice made under the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(DMCA) that:
Is sent by a
copyright
owner or its agent to an online service provider (OSP) as defined in the DMCA.
Claims that material made available by a third party on or through the OSP's service infringes the owner's copyright.
Substantially meets the requirements set out in Section 512(c)(3)(A) of the DMCA.

On receiving an effective DMCA notification, an OSP seeking to take advantage of the
DMCA Safe Harbor
for copyright infringement must promptly remove the allegedly infringing material.
