On 15 June 2010, the House Subcommittee on Courts and Competition Policy held a hearing on the combined effect of two Supreme Court decisions limiting private antitrust actions against regulated industries. Presenting a prepared statement, Howard Shelanski, the Federal Trade Commission's Deputy Director for Antitrust in the Bureau of Economics, relayed the agency's concern that lower courts could construe the rulings as also barring public enforcement of the antitrust laws against industries already subject to regulatory oversight.
