On 25 May 2011, the European Commission announced that from 1 June 2011, all 143 nuclear power plants in the EU will be re-assessed using EU-wide stress tests. On the same day, an agreement was reached between the Commission and the European Nuclear Safety Regulators' Group on the scope and the methods to be used for carrying out these nuclear stress tests.
