The DPP is responsible for prosecuting offences against Commonwealth law, including cartel offences under the Act, in accordance with the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth. The DPP is not an investigatory agency, and therefore prosecutes only those cartel offences that have been referred to it by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
