The Mobile Marketing Association released the Mobile Application Privacy Policy Framework setting out guidelines designed to address core privacy issues and data processes of mobile applications and to provide mobile application developers with model policy language.
On January 25, 2012, the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) published the Mobile Application Privacy Policy Framework, a model privacy policy and guidelines designed for use with most mobile applications. As described in the MMA's press release, the framework provides mobile application developers with policy language on core privacy and data security issues.
The framework's model language addresses various privacy questions mobile application consumers face, including:
The type of information, including real time location information, the application collects.
How the application uses this information.
Whether third parties will have access to this information.
How the application uses automatic data collection for advertising.
How consumers can opt-out of automatic data collection and targeted advertising.
The developer's data retention policy and security procedures.
