DOL Again Extends Comment Period for Proposed Rule Revising Companionship and Live-in Worker FLSA Regulations | Practical Law

The Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division (Wage and Hour Division) has again extended the comment period for its proposed rule expanding minimum wage and overtime protections for domestic caregivers under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Wage and Hour Division extended the comment period until March 21, 2012.

The Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division (Wage and Hour Division) has again extended the comment period for its proposed rule expanding minimum wage and overtime protections for domestic caregivers under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Wage and Hour Division extended the comment period until March 21, 2012.
The DOL Wage and Hour Division (Wage and Hour Division) has once again extended the comment period for its proposed rule expanding minimum wage and overtime protections for domestic caregivers by limiting permissible exemptions from the FLSA.
The original notice of proposed rulemaking, published on December 27, 2011, provided for a comment period ending on February 27, 2012. After receiving requests to extend the comment period, the Wage and Hour Division concluded that the public would benefit from additional time to review the proposed rule and extended the comment period to March 12, 2012. On March 9, 2012, the Wage and Hour Division again extended the comment period to March 21, 2012. Comments received between December 27, 2011 and March 21, 2012 will be included in the rulemaking record.
