Effective April 1, 2012, Alabama employers must verify the immigration status of its employees using the federal E-Verify program. State contractors must provide a sworn affidavit that they do not knowingly hire, employ or continue to employ unauthorized aliens and that they have been using E-Verify since January 1, 2012.
