The Copyright Royalty Board issued a proposed rule setting the rates and terms for making an ephemeral recording of a sound recording by a business establishment service.
On July 19, 2013, the Copyright Royalty Board of the Library of Congress published a proposed rule setting the rates and terms for the making of an ephemeral recording of a sound recording by a business establishment service. The proposed rule includes, among other things, new and revised rulemakings on:
  • Royalty fees for ephemeral recordings.
  • Terms for making payment of royalty fees and statements of accounts.
  • Verification of royalty payments and distributions.
  • Unclaimed funds.
These rates and terms would be set for the period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2018. Interested parties may submit comments and objections through August 19, 2013.
