Project Delivery System
A widely recognized formal contractual approach to the planning, design, management, and construction of a project. The owner selects the delivery system, usually at the start of the project.
The delivery system identifies the party or parties contracting with the owner and the sequence for planning and design, bidding, and construction of the project. The project delivery systems that private owners most commonly use are:
- Design-Bid-Build (DBB).
- An owner can add a Construction Manager as Advisor (CMa), also known as Agency Construction Manager (ACM).
- Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R or CMAR), also known as Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) or CM/GC.
- Design-Build (DB).
There is also a developing interest in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
