In accordance with the US Department of Commerce's previous announcement in its July 31, 2013 Green Paper on Copyright Policy, Creativity and Innovation in the Digital Economy, the Internet Policy Task Force announced that it will hold four roundtable discussions across the US seeking additional input on the copyright policy issues addressed in the Green Paper.
On April 11, 2014, the Internet Policy Task Force of the US Department of Commerce issued a Notice of Public Meetings on Copyright Policy Topics announcing that it will hold four roundtables in cities across the US from May through July 2014 (79 FR 21439-01, Apr. 16, 2014). The roundtables intend to generate public input on the following topics:
  • The legal framework for the creation of remixes.
  • The relevance and scope of the first sale doctrine in the digital environment.
  • The appropriate calibration of statutory damages in the context of:
    • individual file sharers; and
    • secondary liability for large-scale infringement.
The notice follows the Task Force's July 31, 2013 Green Paper on Copyright Policy, Creativity and Innovation in the Digital Economy and its October 3, 2013 request for public comments.
