Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

  • On August 31, 2015, USCIS announced that it has simplified the process for paying the USCIS Immigrant Fee online in the electronic immigration system. The revised process reduces the amount of information required from individuals immigrating to the US as lawful permanent residents and now allows anyone to pay the fee for the immigrant.
  • On August 24, 2015, USCIS announced that it will discontinue its legacy e-Filing system to maintain data security standards and focus resources on its replacement Electronic Immigration System.

DOL

Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP)

  • On August 3, 2015, the OFCCP released its employment discrimination complaint form in five new languages (Spanish, Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), Korean, Vietnamese and French). The forms are available on OFCCP's website.
  • The OFCCP has released a new voluntary educational poster. The new poster, which employers, including government contractors, need not post, has been provided by OFCCP to increase public awareness of the OFCCP's role.

Wage and Hour Division (WHD)

  • On August 6, 2015, the WHD announced that it had signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Idaho DOL to prevent the misclassification of employees as independent contractors or other non-employees.

Department of State (DOS)

  • On August 25, 2015, the DOS published a Final Rule in the Federal Register that adopted as final an interim final rule published in the Federal Register on August 28, 2014. Specifically, the rule implemented changes to the Schedule of Fees for Consular Service.
