On 11 September 2009, the Board of the SCC Arbitration Institute held its annual meeting to discuss issues relating to regular case management - such as appointment and challenge of arbitrators, prima facie decisions on jurisdiction, advances on costs of arbitration, and various other matters of importance.
It was reported that, since the beginning of 2008, SCC arbitrations have involved disputes with parties from 40 different countries and the SCC Board appointed arbitrators from 13 countries. The caseload for the year 2008 was 176 cases, of which 91 arbitrations were Swedish and 85 arbitrations were international.
The internationality of the SCC Institute is also reflected in the composition of its Board which includes 14 distinguished experts in international arbitration, both attorneys and in-house counsels, from China, Egypt, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
